Summer Rain

Water trickled down,
Rivulets on the pane
Small spots merged to droplets
Grey clouds and yet more rain

It started at dawn
With just a light shower
But it gathered in strength
And unleashed its power.

By Midday the parched land
Changed a hue into green
As dried leaves and plants
Merged in a new scene
As if full of pride

The boughs of the trees
Proudly stood, arms aloft
Giving succour to leaves.

The downside of course
No one ventured out
Just those at work
And cars splashing about

The upside of course
To this dismal day,
It heralds the dawn
Of another new way.

For the sun to break out
On a canopy of blue
Song of birds and sunshine
Brings energy anew!
